BEYOND THE HEADLINES
September 18, 2011
Eating Disorders
Hosted by ABC7's Cheryl Jennings
According to a new study released in March, the median age for the onset of eating disorders has dropped to a shocking 12-years-old. Nearly all eating disorder patients say their social and family lives have been hurt because of this disease.
This week's episode of "Beyond the Headlines" discusses Eating Disorders and the ways they impact families across the Bay Area. They cut across all lines: age, gender, ethnic heritage, sexuality, class, and more.
Today's guests are community leaders who will discuss the facts about this vicious disease and will help us to understand why many of those suffering from an eating disorder choose to keep their condition a shameful secret.
