President Obama begins Bay Area visit

The president arrived at Moffett Field in Mountain View around 5:45 p.m.. Several dozen supporters were on hand to cheer on the president as he de-boarded Air Force One.

After shaking hands with many in the crowd and stopping to high-five a young supporter, the president entered a vehicle and was whisked away to his first event.

President Obama will attend two Silicon Valley fundraisers Sunday evening. Both events are private. The first is a fundraiser at the home of Symantec chairman John Thompson in Woodside. Around 300 people paid $2,500 for their opportunity to meet Obama at that event. The event is expected to raise over $750,000.

Facebook COO Cheryl Sandberg will host the second event -- a dinner -- with Obama at her home in Atherton. Each person paid $3,500 for a plate at the Sandberg dinner, which is expected to raise $2.5 million for Obama's campaign.

On Monday, President Obama will host a question-and-answer session during a town hall meeting at the Mountain View headquarters of LinkedIn. During his town hall, Obama is expected to make another push for the passage of his jobs bill.

President Obama will depart from the Bay Area Monday afternoon for La Jolla and Los Angeles for more fundraisers.
