Concord approves 17-block smoking ban

The Concord City Council unanimously voted on Tuesday night to ban smoking in the downtown area.

The ban covers a 17-block area around Todos Santos Plaza.

The law is expected to go into effect 30 days after the second reading, which will happen October 18th.

Some downtown business and property owners have wanted the ban for two years, saying cigarette and cigar smoke was killing business.
