School turns to parents to raise $1 mil

EL CERRITO, Calif. A private school in El Cerrito is fighting against a bank seizure by asking stunned parents to come up with nearly $1 million to save their school. The Windrush School has to come up with the cash by next Friday or 165 students may have to find new schools. The kindergarten through 8th grade school lost about 100 students in the last three years because of the economy. Parents who lost their jobs pulled their kids out of the school. Tuition at Windrush is about $20,000 per student, averaging about $2 million in tuition losses over the past few years.
