Olsen spoke Sunday to Indybay.org at Frank Ogawa Plaza. Olsen was there the night of October 25, protesting a pre-dawn police raid, when he was hit in the forehead by a police projectile.
He was in the hospital for weeks, and is still working to regain his full speech capabilities.
"I was texting or something to a friend of mine and next thing I know I'm down on the ground and there are people above me trying to help me," Olsen said.
The Oakland Police Department is still investigating the incident.
