Fog, high surf advisories issued throughout Bay Area

A fog advisory was issued at 3:32 a.m. on the Bay Bridge, according to the CHP.

Along the coast spanning from the North Bay's Point Reyes National Seashore to southern Monterey Bay, a high surf advisory is in place until 3 p.m. this afternoon, according to the National Weather Service.

Westerly swells between 13 and 16 feet are expected through the afternoon, with the largest swells crashing onto beaches early this morning, weather officials said.

According to the NWS, shoreline areas will be dangerous today with strong rip currents and possible sneaker waves.

Local beaches face possible erosion because of big waves, weather officials said.
