The bodies were discovered after the Rancho Adobe Fire Protection District extinguished a fire at a home in the 1300 block of Westgate Lane in unincorporated Sonoma County north of Petaluma, sheriff's officials said.
The fire was reported around 12:15 a.m., a Sonoma County Fire Department dispatcher said. Sheriff's deputies responded at 1:45 a.m.
The bodies were burned beyond recognition, and the victims' identities have not yet been determined, according to the sheriff's office.
Investigators from the sheriff's office and the Sonoma County Fire Department are at the scene this morning.
