Elizabeth and William Charles were one of the couples to say, "I do." William Charles says leap day seemed a fitting choice for a wedding.
"It's a very rare occasion, as is getting married," he said.
Leap year exists for purely astronomical reasons. It takes the earth just slightly more than 365 days to complete an orbit around the sun, and so once every four years, we make up for that lost time.
Erin and Luis Bourdon, who also got hitched Wednesday, are well aware of the fact that a leap year wedding technically means an anniversary once every four years.
"It only happens once every four years and we wanted to have a really special anniversary," Erin Bourdon said.
"And I wanted to be able to remember our anniversary day," her new husband Luis Bourdon added, with a laugh.
Couples say they will celebrate every year and just make leap years extra special.
