A body was found in the waters near San Francisco's Fisherman's Wharf Tuesday morning, a fire department spokeswoman said.

Firefighters responded at 11:19 a.m. to a report of a body spotted floating out from under Pier 45, fire spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

Crews spotted the body and were able to retrieve it, despite windy conditions in the area being "not very conducive to jumping in the water," Talmadge said.

Police and the medical examiner's office also responded.

No information about the person's gender or cause of death was immediately available, Talmadge said.
