Dentists report rise in preschooler cavities

WASHINGTON

According to a new survey, dentists around the country are reporting an increase in the number of preschool-age patients they are treating. The level of decay is so severe, dentists report having to use general anesthesia.

Dentists say such operations are largely preventable if parents brush their children's teeth starting at an early age.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention initially began noticing the increase in a study it conducted five years ago.
