Port of San Francisco revives water taxi plan

Officials with the Port of San Francisco have revived a plan to start a water taxi service along the city's waterfront.

Stops could include Fisherman's Wharf, South Beach Harbor, and the site of the new Exploratorium now being built.

Under a plan originally developed three years ago, the water taxis would not compete with ferry services. The boats would be smaller and hold less than 50 people.

They're looking for a vendor and hope to have them up and running by the time the America's Cup races get under way next fall.
