Emergency crews say calls came about shaking and a large boom in El Dorado, Amador, Calaveras, Tuolumne and San Joaquin counties and even parts of Lake Tahoe.
Residents reported seeing a bright meteor streaking across the sky just before 8 a.m.
The Lyrid meteor shower was peaking around the time and meteorologists believe it's possible that a meteor hit somewhere in the Sierra Nevada mountains.
