2-alarm fire damages home near San Leandro

ALAMEDA COUNTY, Calif.

The fire was reported at about 9 p.m. at 2135 Pico Place, Alameda County Fire Department spokeswoman Aisha Knowles said.

Heavy smoke and flames were visible from miles away, she said. The fire was contained within about 45 minutes.

No injuries were reported.

Homes on both sides of the house that caught fire were also damaged, according to Knowles. Damage estimates were not available.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.

The Alameda County Fire Department is working with the Alameda County Sheriff's Office to determine how many people were displaced, she said.
