BEYOND THE HEADLINES
April 29, 2012
Youth Empowerment
Hosted by ABC7's Cheryl Jennings
This episode of Beyond the Headlines begins with a special performance by a young poet from a Bay Area organization, Youth Speaks.
Today's show focuses on the importance of empowering youth through mentoring and job training programs. Our guests talk about how young people use poetry and/or academics to fulfill their personal goals and give back to the community. Many job training programs help with resume writing and developing interview skills. This helps young people land jobs and internships that give them a sense of responsibility and a positive outlook on the benefits of education.
By empowering youth, we are able to help educate and develop confident leaders for the future. Our guests today work hard to achieve that vision.
