The Alliance of Californians For Community Empowerment started the protest in front of the headquarters of the California Bankers Association.
They contend banks and mortgage lenders have spent almost $9 million lobbying state lawmakers, just since 2007. That they say is influencing the progress of the Homeowner's Bill of Rights in the Legislature.
"We're struggling and we're saying, 'enough is enough,' and we're here to say, 'stop taking that dirty money from these bankers.' We are going to make sure that all of these legislators do get exposed if they continue to take this dirty money," said Rose Gudiel from Californians For Community Empowerment.
The Homeowner's Bill of Rights consists of six pieces of legislation designed to create a fair foreclosure process and penalize those who violate the law.
