Trainers: Dog dragged by truck recovering well

A dog that survived being dragged down a freeway in the East Bay is now in a foster home and recovering well.

On Monday, the 4-month-old German shepherd is now being called "Freeway" was placed in a foster home in Benicia and did very well during his first training session.

A family spotted the dog dangling from a rope being dragged by a black older model Chevy pickup truck on Interstate 780 near Benecia last month. Freeway had to have his rear leg amputated. Next week, he will have his stitches removed.

His trainers say he's doing amazingly well.
