An East Bay family got the keys to their new home in Hayward Thursday. It's the ninth property to be renovated in the Palma Ceia area by Habitat For Humanity.

The city of Hayward has partnered with Habitat to rehabilitate foreclosed properties in Hayward.

The city has $2.8 million to buy, renovate and sell up to 20 foreclosed or blighted homes to low income families.

The project is being funded by the federal government's Neighborhood Stabilization Program.
