Police in San Francisco took their turn carrying the Special Olympics "Flame of Hope" Monday morning.

The run covered eight miles with the torch being passed off to officers along the way. The torch is making its way to Davis for the Special Olympics, which begin this Friday.

The annual law enforcement torch run is now a global event. Last year, it generated more than $42 million for Special Olympic programs around the world.
