Santa Clara to appeal funding cut for 49ers stadium

The city of Santa Clara now plans to appeal a decision to revoke $30 million in funding for the new San Francisco 49ers stadium.

City officials will ask the state Department of Finance to review the decision.

The money was diverted last week by an oversight board in charge of deciding how to spend money left over from re-development agencies which are being phased out. They decided to spend the money on local schools instead.

Construction on the $1.2 billion stadium will continue.
