Hotels raising $1M for cancer research

SAN FRANCISCO

"No question it's ambitious, but everyone recognizes the cause behind the campaign," Fairmont Hotel General Manager Tom Klein said.

The Million Dollar Mission is Klein's idea. Members of the Hotel Council have pledged to raise $1 million in a month for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.

The big show is online at the Bidding for Good website. You could bid on the Fairmont's penthouse with its amazing views and dinner for six worth $18,000. Or you can stay at the historic Palace Hotel in the presidential suite where White House residents have spent nights. Or you can try new luxury in the St. Regis suite of the St. Regis Hotel with dinner, retail price is $10,000.

"There are over 110 packages on there as we speak and more packages coming in on a daily basis," St. Regis Manager William Fong said.
