Many Jeep owners call it the "death wobble," a shaking in the front end of the vehicle that makes the car shimmy violently. An I-Team investigation earlier this year revealed more than 600 complaints to federal highway safety officials about the condition, mostly on Jeep Wranglers.
In a letter to the makers of Jeep, South Bay Congresswoman Anna Eshoo and Rep. Henry Waxman are calling for an outreach campaign to Jeep customers including notifying them of the risk, and providing possible solutions for repairing and preventing the problem.
Chrysler responded by saying its "vehicles meet or exceed every applicable government safety standard and have excellent safety records." They did not say if they will contact customers.
