5 charged with neglecting seniors at care home

SAN JOSE, Calif.

San Jose police say the home on Cortona Drive operated without a state license. Investigators say the 12 residents of the home were dependent adults who were beaten, malnourished and forbidden from using toilet paper. When police entered the home, they say they also found it covered with animal feces from numerous dogs that wandered the home.

Adult Protective Services has found other care arrangements for the victims.

Police are asking people in the community to come forward if they have information about the victims or suspects.
