SWAT team surrounds Oakland home, 2 suspects

OAKLAND, Calif.

The men ran into that house after Oakland police officers spotted them, around 3:15 Monday afternoon.

"Currently we have the Fremont SWAT team here along with our armored vehicle. The plan is now to establish communications, some type of communications with the barricaded suspects inside the residence," said Oakland Police Department spokesperson Ofc. Johnna Watson.

The series of events began Saturday night when a CHP officer tried to stop the driver of a white van for not wearing his seatbelt. Two men in a stolen, black Acura then rear-ended the officer's patrol car.

Someone from the Acura then shot out the CHP car's back windshield. The officer escaped un-harmed.

Police arrested the two people from the van near the Oakland Coliseum on Saturday evening.
