Two rabid bats found in Fremont

FREMONT, Calif.

The bats were found last Wednesday in a neighborhood bounded by Mowry Avenue, Fremont Boulevard, Stevenson Boulevard and Blacow Road.

Health authorities have been handing out pamphlets, warning residents to avoid contact with bats, dead or alive.

The first dead bat was found July 25th at an undisclosed location. The second was found Tuesday floating in a woman's swimming pool. There was no human contact, but the woman's dog has been quarantined for 30 days as a precaution.

Two other rabid bats were found earlier this year in Berkeley and Sunol.
