Boy crushed by tree has leg amputated

SAN MATEO COUNTY, Calif.

Zachary Rowe and his family were camping in memorial park when a 60-foot oak tree fell on his tent, crushing his pelvis.

"His heart is doing well, his liver and kidneys are doing just as well as the doctors could have expected," Zachary's stepdad Cabot Peters said. "He's holding his ground, and they're very proud of his results, and at this point, his condition."

Zachary's left leg also has a fracture and he has severe problems with left hip.

A fund has been set up to help Zachary and his family with expenses.

Donations to this fund can be sent to any Bank of America branch or made in person. "ZACH ROWE FUND," ACCOUNT NUMBER 164102211549.
