Petaluma team going to Little League World Series

PETALUMA, Calif.

The last few days have been a scramble with players and family members booking flights to Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The World Series begins on Thursday with Petaluma playing the northeast champ from Fairfield, Connecticut. We talked with coach Eric Smith about a once-in-a-lifetime chance.

"When we start actually talking about the numbers involved it's pretty crazy. I think there are over 7,000 Little Leagues that started this whole thing and there are 16 left. I don't think about it a lot until someone says, 'You are at the Little League World Series.' I think it's that World Series term that just sort of is a shocker. You know, it's not a regional tournament. You know just the name of it alone makes it bigger," said Smith.
