Fired K-9 cop charged with neglecting second dog

WATSONVILLE

Prosecutors filed animal abuse charges against Francisco Ibarra in March, accusing the former cop of starving his department K-9. Ibarra was a 15 year veteran of the department until he was let go last year.

On Friday prosecutors revealed Ibarra also neglected a second dog in his care. Ibarra has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

If convicted, he faces 6 months in county jail and a $1,000 fine.
