Excitement is building in the East Bay as the Oakland Athletics make a run for their first postseason berth since 2006.

Hundreds of fans lined up at the Coliseum Monday to buy tickets for a possible wild card playoff game or the American League Division Series.

The A's are baseball's biggest surprise. They have the second-best record in the American League, despite having baseball's second-lowest payroll.

Not even their most loyal fans would have predicted this success back in April, but they're loving it now. "I've been here win or lose, rain or shine, spring training, I'm always here for my A's," said A's fan Josie Arroyo. "So I'm not a band-wagoner. I'm back from the Canseco days, so I'm ready to do this."

Currently the A's are on pace to be the No. 1 seed for the American League wild card and are still in the hunt to win the American League West, just three games behind the Texas Rangers.
