A 45-year-old Fairfield resident was walking on Second Street near West Texas Street at about 1:30 p.m. when a car occupied by two males pulled up alongside her and then onto the curb in front of her, police said.
The male in the passenger seat of the car, wearing a hooded black sweatshirt and a bandana concealing his face, pointed a handgun at the victim and demanded cash and her cellphone, according to police.
The driver of the vehicle fired one gunshot, perhaps inadvertently, from a handgun inside the vehicle, police said.
The victim surrendered her possessions, police said.
The suspects were last seen fleeing in a car westbound on West Texas Street. The suspect vehicle was described as a black car, possibly a Honda, police said.
Police searched the area but did not find the suspects, police said.
