Study: Children in day care centers are breathing toxic air

The research was funded by the state air resources board which says it is concerned, but the high formaldehyde levels do not pose an immediate threat.

"The levels that we found in these day care centers were really not much above what you would find in many people's homes, so it's a question of , if you sweep your house, you sweep your daycare center," said Dave Clegern from the California Air Resources Board.

Formaldehyde is a known human carcinogen. The chemical is used in building materials and is found in many household products
