A public information officer will be riding along with a patrol officer between 5 p.m. and 1 a.m. with live tweets about service calls, crimes in progress, accidents, and arrests. They will also try to answer questions.
Officials say their goal is to give the community insight into the realities of law enforcement in Palo Alto.
Tweets will be on the department's Twitter account, @PaloAltoPolice and will include #PAPDvra, which stands for Palo Alto Police Department virtual ride-along.
