'Kite Runner' author holds fundraiser in San Jose

SAN JOSE, Calif.

It was for his foundation to build shelters for homeless Afghans who are returning refugees.

There are more than five million people who need homes after they were destroyed during 30 years of war.

Friday night's event was held at the Harker School in San Jose and about 400 people showed up.

Following the question and answer session with the audience, Hosseini did a book signing as well.
