Suspect sketch in home invasion homicide released

MONTE SERENO, Calif.

Police say 66-year-old Monte Sereno resident Ravi Kumra was killed at his home on Whitney Road near Beck Avenue. He was a former owner of the Mountain Winery in Saratoga.

His wife, Harinder Kumra, called police at 1:30 a.m. to report that her husband was killed, she was attacked, and their home was ransacked. She was treated at the hospital for her injuries.

To protect the investigation, police are not releasing details on how Ravi died.

Investigators believe there was more than one person inside the home at the time of the incident, but the exact number and their descriptions are not known at this time.

The suspect, whose sketch was released Saturday, is described as a white or Hispanic male, approximately 23-24 years old, approximately 6 feet tall and skinny. He was described as having black hair, dark eyes and a light complexion.

The Los Gatos and Monte Sereno communities are hosting a special meeting to discuss community safety this Tuesday evening. It will be held at the Monte Sereno City Hall.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to contact the Los Gatos/Monte Sereno Police Department at (408) 827-3219 or after hours at (408) 354-8600.
