Crews extinguish fire at restaurant in Alameda

ALAMEDA, Calif.

Investigators say the fire at the restaurant in downtown Alameda is suspicious.

There was heavy smoke at the scene and firefighters say it appears the fire had several points of origin.

It took crews about ten minutes to get the fire under control. "When we got on scene we found the building full of smoke and it appeared to have a fire inside. We were able to contain the fire to the perimeter of the building itself," Alameda Fire Dept. Division Chief Matt Tunney said.

Police say the damage is estimated at about a quarter-million dollars.
