SB Hwy 85 reopened in Cupertino after investigation of reported shooting

CUPERTINO, Calif.

Sgt. Robert Durham tells ABC7 News that a Marine sergeant was traveling southbound on Highway 85 when his government vehicle was struck by gunfire. He pulled over to the side of the road and called police.

Officials closed part of the southbound lanes for nearly an hour while they investigated the reports of gunfire. The lanes reopened around 3 p.m. The northbound lanes were not affected by the closure.

There have not been any reports of injuries.
