A new study that appeared Thursday in the journal "Menopause" confirms the memory problems that many women experience in their 40s and 50s.

Researchers at the University of Rochester Medical Center found the symptoms are most acute during the first year following their final menstrual period. After that, memory improves.

The research involved tests of daily memory tasks performed on 117 women in various stages of menopause.
