SF Mission District market to become year-round event

SAN FRANCISCO

The Mission Community Market, which takes place on Bartlett Street between 21st and 22nd streets, will now be held from 4 to 8 p.m. every Thursday.

"It's always been a goal of ours," the market's executive director Jeremy Shaw said. "This is the third season and we've grown enough where we wanted to make it a year-round night market."

Previously, the market had reopened in April after a four-month winter break.

The market, which sees an estimated 1,400 visitors on an average week, works exclusively with farmers, micro-entrepreneurs and nonprofits in the neighborhood, Shaw said.

Tonight there will be live bands, fresh produce and "delicious" prepared food, with an eating area where people can sit down, Shaw said. "We made our own little benches and have a little dining area," he said.

More information about the market can be found online at www.missioncommunitymarket.org.
