San Francisco police launch distracted walking campaign

The San Francisco Police Department is launching a new campaign to educate distracted walkers.

The focus is on pedestrians who text or talk on the phone, instead of paying attention.

Officers and student volunteers are stopping and talking to people about pedestrian accidents and cell phone robberies.

Police say robberies are soaring with thieves snatching phones and iPads before you can even look up.
