The program lets customers scan items by using the Walmart app on their smartphone as they shop throughout the store. Shoppers see the running total of their items and use a self-check-out screen when leaving the store, allowing them to bypass the typical registers.
The program is expanding from about 70 Walmart's to more than 200 across country, including several locations in San Jose.
For now, "Scan & Go" only works on Apple devices. Walmart says an Android version should be out soon.
