One-alarm fire at Marina District restaurant under control

SAN FRANCISCO

The one-alarm fire was reported at 2:29 p.m. on the second floor of a restaurant in the 2000 block of Chestnut Street, spokeswoman Mindy Talmadge said.

The address of the fire had previously been reported further west on Chestnut Street, Talmadge said.

The blaze was under control at 2:44 p.m., she said.

Talmadge said firefighters had to open the restaurant ceiling to attack the flames.

An employee at Pacific Catch, the restaurant next door, said the fire was at Castagna, a French bistro and wine bar.

The fire broke out in what he said is the owner's second-floor office.

As of 3:40 p.m., the employee said Chestnut Street was blocked off to motorists in the area.

No injuries were reported in the fire.
