The America's Cup is scaling back its waterfront concert schedule planned for this summer in San Francisco.

The San Francisco Examiner reports the committee agreed to reduce the schedule from as many as 40 concerts to no more than 30 at the temporary pavilion on the Embarcadero.

Singer "Sting" has already been booked as the opening act for the concert series that begins May 31.

The change comes after meetings with local neighborhood groups and with the America's Cup beset with financial concerns.
