The umbrellas came out on this first day of April, bringing a lot more than just a few scattered showers. Commuters got the worst of the morning's downpour. But it was a nightmare for a few A's fans that got to the ballpark early for opening day.
"Seven in the morning and it was pouring, it was really pouring," A's fan Jorge Leon said. "I thought, 'man, is it ever going to stop!'"
Overnight and in the morning park crews did what they could to protect the field. They rushed to get things ready in time for the game.
"I would be out here if it was torrential downpour, or snow, or even 100 degree weather I'd still be out here," A's fan Kishna Hare said. "Couldn't keep me away!"
Despite the threat of more rain, San Francisco Giants fans made it to AT&T Park to watch their team on the big screen. The Giants played the LA Dodgers.
"Probably get a little wet, but yeah, come on we're not wusses out here on the West Coast," Giants fan Brad Livermore said. "You know, we're okay to get a little wet a little cold, whatever, it's Giants baseball season!"
Fellow Giants fan Mike Pickman added, "My theory is, if I bring it, it won't rain. So, I don't think it's gonna rain, it's too much fun."
