One dead, two recovering after shooting in Antioch

ANTIOCH, Calif.

Police tell us the man who died is 23-year-old Jimmie Bills. At this point it doesn't look like they're looking for any suspects. They do believe he show the two women inside their home and then killed himself.

The triple shooting on the quiet street in Antioch came as a shock to those who live there.

"It's unbelievable, really," neighbor Carlos Maynetto said. "When something like that happens near to you, because we see those things on the news, but it looks like it's only the news, but now it looks like we're living the real things, so I'm concerned about it."

Neighbors say they heard a woman screaming Tuesday night. Many were worried for the young twin boys who live there. Police say they are okay, but that the mother and her adult daughter were shot by a man who then killed himself.

Friends were heartbroken to hear the single mom of four had been shot.

"She's a wonderful lady, she's a good mom," said Heather Duarte, a friend of the family. "She's got great kids and I feel bad for her."

The two women survived and are in critical but stable condition.

Neighbors say the man who shot them was an ex-boyfriend of the adult daughter and that she had a temporary restraining order against him.

"Yeah, we know them very well, it's a real shock to me," said the family's pastor, Reverend Paul Taylor.

Rev. Taylor came to check on the family after hearing the news. He said this isn't the first time the adult daughter has been the victim of violence, and that her mother worried about her.

"She was shot last year, but she wasn't the target, it was just a shooting at a club," Rev. Taylor said.

He tells us the mother has been very worried about her adult daughter and very busy raising four kids on her own as a single mom. One neighbor told us she's even been studying, trying to become a nurse.

Neighbors tell us that those twin boys, young elementary school aged boys, are okay. They are staying with a neighbor while their mom and big sister recover in the hospital.
