Oakland fire officials struggled to prevent a three-alarm fire on the 2500 block of 73rd Avenue near Bancroft from spreading Saturday afternoon.

Fire officials reported on Twitter that they are battling multiple fires in high winds, including a newly reported attic fire on the 2500 block of 74th Avenue.

The fire caused a roof to collapse in a commercial building, forcing firefighters into a defensive exterior attack, fire officials said.
