Zhi Liu will return to court on the Peninsula Wednesday afternoon to answer to human trafficking charges.
Agents arrested the 49-year-old last Thursday in South San Francisco following a five-month investigation that included federal and state officials.
Liu, who went by the name of Bob, and his wife are accused of operating a brothel from a San Bruno apartment before moving it to South San Francisco.
Liu remains in custody with bail set at $200,000.
His wife, 51-year-old Wei Guo, remains at large with an outstanding $100,000 arrest warrant.
