Crews have encountered what a construction official described as 'incredibly difficult conditions' at the site near Mineta San Jose Airport.
They've found water-filled underground vaults, piles of steel beams and concrete and munitions from a factory that was once located there.
The Earthquakes hope to open the stadium for the second half of next season.
