Family fights cops to keep brother out of custody

NAPA, Calif.

Officers responded to reports of a fight involving at least six people in the 1700 block of Pueblo Avenue at 11:50 p.m. As they arrived, they saw one suspect, later identified as 29-year-old Hector Martin Perez, run away.

The officers chased him, and police said he wrestled and fought with them as they tried to arrest him.

His juvenile brother then joined the scuffle by charging at the officers with a bat, and Perez's 25-year-old sister, Edith Perez, joined in too by grabbing one of the officers, police said.

Hector and Edith Perez were both arrested, and the juvenile brother fled but was found a short distance away.

Police said Edith Perez was on probation in Napa County.

Hector Perez, who turned 29 on Friday, was allegedly found to have methamphetamine in his possession when he was arrested, according to police.

The two older siblings were booked into Napa County Jail, while the younger brother was booked into juvenile hall.
