There is good news for an endangered species in Marin County.

ABC7 News media partner The Marin Independent Journal reports the juvenile Coho salmon have appeared in Walker Creek in West Marin for the first time in five years.

Officials believe the fish may be the result of eggs laid during last winter's spawning season.

The state's wildlife agency began a program nine years ago of releasing adult Coho in the creek.
