Family of teen killed by deputy filing federal claim

SANTA ROSA, Calif.

Andy Lopez was shot last week while holding an air soft rifle designed to look like an AK-47.

The family is planning a news conference in San Francisco Monday to discuss legal action against Sonoma County.

The San Francisco Chronicle reports the officer who fired the shots, Deputy Erick Gelhaus, has hired a lawyer as well.
