Shooting sends 2 deputies, suspect to hospital in Saratoga

SARATOGA, Calif.

Sheriff's deputies responded to a 12:01 p.m. report of a suicidal man in the 12000 block of Saratoga Avenue, near McFarland Avenue, Sgt. Kurtis Stenderup said. Fire units were also sent to the scene.

After deputies arrived, there was some kind of altercation between the man and the deputy. The deputy fired at least one shot, wounding the man, according to Stenderup.

Two deputies were injured in the shooting and were taken to a hospital in stable condition.

The condition of the man who was shot was not yet available, and deputies are at the scene talking to witnesses and gathering evidence, Stenderup said.
